A TEACHER WHO INSTILLS LOVE OF LEARNING, A LOVE OF TEACHING, AND WHO MODELS TRUE CARING CAN MAKE ALL THE DIFFERENCE IN THE WORLD!
Welcome to my fourth grade web-site! I hope you consider this a useful and helpful tool where you can read a bit about what we are doing in class and get a glimpse or a "peek" at what is happening in our classroom.
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. I am Mrs. Debbie Berrie and it is hard to believe that I will be entering my 27th year in education. Teaching children is truly a passion of mine. Most of my teaching experience has been in fourth grade, but I have also spent four years teaching second grade and have even taught fifth and sixth grades as well. The experience and work I have done with the many colleagues I have collaborated with over the years has helped shape the educator I am today.
In addition to teaching, I am a loving mother to my daughter Lani, who currently a Freshman at the University of Illinois. My wonderful husband, Michael works as an administrator in a K-12 Elementary/High School. Lucy, my Shih-Tzu-Bichon is my adorable and naughty eleven year old dog who needs a great deal of training!
In the classroom I consider myself a teacher, a facilitator, a coach, and co-learner. I believe that I am a creative, caring, and enthusiastic teacher who has a love for learning. My classroom is child-centered where students inquire, collaborate, cooperate, and share their learning with one another. Technology is utilized as much as possible to learn, research, and problem solve real world issues.
I believe in the importance of creating a warm, safe, and happy classroom climate so that students feel comfortable taking risks, asking questions, and taking on challenges. Relating to my students and getting to know each and every one as a unique individual, I believe, is important in building a positive learning environment.
Please feel free to contact me at [email protected] should you have any questions, comments, thoughts to share, or concerns. I look forward to our communications and partnership in your child's education.
